Rodeo Motors
Rodeo Motors Website
Background

After moving into a new building, Rodeo Motors needed a website to promote the new location in Preston, Idaho. The previous website was automatically generated with vehicle listings from the dealer management software, which was recently deprecated. Until the new system is implemented, Rodeo Motors wanted an in-between website to continue to promote the business.

Jobs-to-be-Done

  • When I search for Rodeo Motors, I want to find the updated address, so I can find their new location.
  • When I need to contact Rodeo Motors about finding a car, I want to know all the ways to do so, so I can choose the best method of contact.
  • When I see a car I'm interested in on the Rodeo Motors lot, I want to find out more details about the vehicle, so I can made an informed decision to consider buying it.

Solution

The new location should be the focal point of the website, so people know where to find the business. Large, interesting photography can help draw users in. The site should also provide easy access to all forms of contact, so they can choose the one that is best for them (phone/email/fax). Due to technical limitations, dynamic vehicle listings will not be included initially. This means that the site will be static.

Mockups

Mockups were designed in Sketch. Once photos were taken, a second mockup was created to finalize the selection of images and gradient overlays.

Implementation

Taking photographs of the new building gave me an opportunity to try out my new Canon DSLR camera with a wide angle lens for interior shots. Images were converted to progressive mode in order to support fast loading of high-resolution display. The website was coded from scratch, and is hosted via a static-enabled Amazon AWS S3 bucket.
